The Roommate

~The best decision I've ever made~

I got a roommate! I'd been tossing around the idea for a while but decided to take the plunge.

First words I spoke to her: "Oh my god! I love those boots!"

Was she a friend or a friend of a friend? Nope! How did I find her you may ask? One word. Online.

Now did the idea of posting an ad online and meeting her only once before I invited her to live in my home scared me? It scared the hell out of me. The only thing that kept me from chickening out was a close friend of mine who had to constantly reassure me that everything would work out. She moved in September 29, 2013 and in our short time together she's become one of my best friends.

~Our dynamic~

We'd hit it off right away and I knew Jade would be a perfect fit from the moment she got excited about having not two... not three... but FOUR cats in our tiny two bedroom apartment. Jade moved to Edmonton from a small town in England called Stalybridge, which is near Manchester. She's been here for almost a year and wishes she didn't have to go home.

Departure date: April 2015

Luckily that gives me another year with Jade, though I have no idea what I'm going to do when she leaves. We get along great. She has a pretty chill personality and we enjoy doing the same things for the most part. The thing that brings us together the most is the cats. Throughout the day we'll send pictures back and forth of what they are up to now.

We have slightly opposite work schedules so I find that sometimes it's hard to spend time together. But we do the best we can by shopping, grocery shopping, and watching TV together. Plus we text every day with daily updates on our lives.

Jade is going back to England for three weeks in June and has invited me to go along with her! I was sad cause I knew I'd be so lonely without her but now she's going to be stuck with me even when she goes back home.

I know things will be so different there than here. It took me a bit to get used to Jade's accent and all the cool British slang she uses.

Some of the slang I've learnt so far:

All things said Jade has a sick style, has definitely taught me a thing or two, and we go on many adventures.
