Cat #3: Coconut

~Too many cats - Coconut's story~

Coconut and Waldo's stories have many overlapping components. To be fair to Waldo's story, I will try my best to recall only Coconut's details. My friend's friend had two cats and they both had kittens within a day of each other. There were eleven kittens in total and Coconut was one of them.

I remember when I first laid eyes on Coconut. I thought he had one of the most gorgeous colors I'd ever seen on a cat. He was running around the room full of life and curiosity. While the others were timid and hiding, he held his tail high and explored. The lady was having trouble with taking care of so many and I offered to take him home to help out.

I took Coconut home July 10, 2013. He was only five weeks old. Because he was so young I started waking up to him suckling different parts of my body. It would range from my temple to my wrist to my lips to my earlobes. One time I even woke up to him suckling my eyelid, which resulted in an eye hickey. After a month or so, thankfully, he outgrew the habit. It was a few months later that I'd decided to keep him even though I already have a surplus of cats. A good friend of mine gave me advice. She told me not to let what other people think bother me and that I am the one who needs to decide which decision I could live with. I knew I couldn't live without him so the decision was easily made.

Out of all my cats I find that Coconut is the most laid back and adventurous. He's the only one that seems to travel well or likes visiting new places. I don't even put him in a cat carrier anymore. He'll simply sit on my lap and stare out the window at everything that's passing him by. If something scares him he'll hug me and tuck his head under my chin for comfort.

Coconut has an instant purr which is the thing I love most about him. He lays by my head every night and puts me to sleep with his loud rumble. In the morning he'll let me know it's time to get up by chirping at me and then purring by my head. It's honestly the best way to wake up.
