Yesterday evening, I made it official. My flight is booked! I'm going to England with Jade!
I am beyond excited and can barely contain myself! I've never been to Europe before (except when I was two with my parents but I feel like it doesn't count because I can't remember any of it). Jade's already started planning out all the things she needs to show me while we're there.
So far the list includes:
- Grocery shopping (apparently it's completely different in England)
- Attend the cinema (they have sweet popcorn instead of salted and it's supposed to be amazing)
- Afternoon tea
- Go out for posh cakes
- Shopping at Affleck's Palace (an alternative indoor market)
- Go out for cocktails all dressed up
- Drinks at The Witchwood and Satan's Hollow (Jade's old regular hang out)
- Visit Chester Zoo
- Go walking around the Dovestones
As soon as I hit "submit" on my airline checkout we both start screaming in excitement. Jade immediately posted on Facebook to let everyone back home know that they're having a visitor.
My trip starts the afternoon of June 9th from the Edmonton International Airport. From there I'll be flying to the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
After a short layover I'm flying across the ocean to the Schiphol Amsterdam Airport.
I have a slightly longer layover in Amsterdam and then I'm off to the Manchester International Airport.
I'll arrive in Manchester the following day (June 10th) in the afternoon, where Jade will pick me up to take me to her hometown of Stalybridge.
As for what I'll think of Stalybridge, I've been looking up pictures online to see what to expect and it looks absolutely gorgeous! So many old buildings and beautiful scenery. Plus I found a website that gives suggestions of different spots to check out while I'm there. They have a town hall from medieval times and river with a canal that I'd like to check out. I'm sure that after doing some more research I'll end up finding so many more sites that I want to check out.
So far the verdict is:
Yay for travel! I'm excited for you - I've only made on trip across the pond, and it was for a completely different experience (Spain, France, Italy). Can't wait to see all your photos and hear about your experiences from your trip!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you! I'm excited to share it as well! It'll be such an amazingly different experience! I'd love to go see more of Europe but it'll have to wait until next time around. This trip is all about Jade showing me around her hometown and the neighboring areas. I'll probably take a trip down to London for a day or two but I'm mainly staying around Northern England and seeing the history/sites they have to offer.
DeleteI'm excited for you! You will have an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's going to be an amazing experience. I am nervous about traveling by myself but luckily I'll have Jade as a tour guide once I get there.
